We designed and built a bespoke outdoor garden sauna and wellness area complete with a HUUM electric stove, cold-plunge tub, outdoor copper shower and decked relaxation zone - all carefully integrated into a compact city garden.

Challenges

The property is located within a conservation zone in the garden of a traditional terraced home, requiring careful planning to comply with height restrictions and aesthetic considerations. Integrating the HUUM electric sauna stove with the period property’s existing electrics also presented a challenge.

JML managed both the client’s electrician and our own subcontractors to ensure a safe and seamless installation, maintaining both performance and design integrity.

Services Delivered

Our team designed and constructed the fully insulated sauna structure, complete with Thermopine cladding, a matching timber privacy wall and Millboard composite decking for durability and low maintenance.

We adapted and extended the client’s existing decking area to incorporate the new wellness space, ensuring the design flowed naturally with the garden’s layout. The result is a unified outdoor environment that feels balanced, cohesive and beautifully finished.

Inside, the sauna is finished with Thermopine wall lining and handcrafted aspen benches, creating a warm, tactile interior that enhances the overall sensory experience. The HUUM stove can be controlled via a smartphone app, allowing the sauna to be preheated remotely for instant relaxation.

The outdoor copper shower and cold-plunge tub complete the wellness zone, offering a full hot and cold therapy experience throughout the year. A sedum living roof adds visual interest from above and promotes biodiversity in the urban setting.

While this sauna was entirely bespoke, we also offer a range of pre-designed saunas created to deliver the same luxurious experience but in a more streamlined and cost-effective way.
