Links Golf Extended Lowlander, St. Andrews

St. Andrews-based interior design company, Farmore Interiors, introduced JML Garden Rooms with a brief to transform a garden space into a stylish and practical outdoor commercial building for their client, Links Golf in St. Andrews, to use for hosting clients.

Access from the garden leads down to the 18th hole of the iconic Old Course golf course in St. Andrews, and Links Golf regularly hosts golf parties and social gatherings here.  Previously, a high quality marquee had been used for all-weather provision at these events.  However, the client was keen to install a more permanent and professional-looking structure that could also double as additional office space.

JML Garden Rooms have successfully worked with Farmore Interiors on a previous project and they were very impressed with JML's buildings for their high quality, attention to detail and superior craftsmanship.  A visit to the JML Garden Rooms showrooms in Perthshire proved that the company could provide exactly what this client required.

Challenges

Links Golf had put a lot of work into the garden and was keen that the Garden Room installation didn't cause too much disruption or introduce harsh lines into the well-established landscaping.  JML Garden Rooms manufactured the SIP panels that make up the new space offsite before carefully installing on-site, working alongside the client's gardener to ensure that boundary planting was retained wherever possible.

Just days before completion of the build, however, the UK was thrown into turmoil as the first national COVID-19 lockdown was enforced.  This meant that work came to a temporary halt on site and finishes such as oiling the cladding had to be postponed.

Since completion, the client has carried out additional landscaping works, including installing a new deck which seamlessly ties in with their new JML Garden Room.

Services Delivered

Due to the size and proposed usage of the project, planning permission was required.  JML Garden Rooms' dedicated design team dealt with this on the client's behalf to ensure a smooth and stress-free design and insatllation process from start to finish.

Farmore Interiors chose and arranged all the interior fixtures and fittings such as the kitchenette, floor coverings and wall finishes.

What the client said...

"It was an absolute pleasure working with the JML Garden Rooms team.  We have very high standards here, and I have been nothing but impressed with the way your guys go about their daily tasks and how they respond to any questions or requests".
